Die at your own risk, mayor proposes

BIRITIBA MIRIM, Brazil (AP) -- There's no more room to bury the dead, they can't be cremated and laws forbid a new cemetery. So the mayor of this Brazilian farm town has proposed a solution: outlaw death.

Mayor Roberto Pereira da Silva's proposal to the Town Council asks residents to "take good care of your health in order not to die" and warns that "infractors will be held responsible for their acts."

Didn't something similar happen in Paris? I think it was Paris, but I could be remembering wrong.

Osiris I'm not sure what they ended up doing in Paris, but there's the Paris underground tunnel network thing, tunnels & tunnels that are just FULL of bodies & skeletons & ancient human remains... I can probably find a link about it, I do remember what you're talking about

You're probably thinking about the law passed in France that they can't lose another war.

Apparently if Frenchmen break the law and do lose another war, they'll be charged with treason, taken prisioners and executed ...

That's an excellent question that Red brought up & great example Morgan!

I'd imagine the lawyers etc would manage to skim by on the bit "infractors will be responsible for THEIR acts" --The victims did not in this case shoot themselves. So, the murderer could likely face even heavier penalties.

No, your honor, it was the victim's duty not to die of the bullet. It was he that broke the law in dying.
