Allright now this is just my opinion based on what i have found.
If you truely know your adult stuff and are making money at it, then it should be DAMN NEAR IMPOSSIBLE TO FAIL IN MAINSTREAM.
I have found that the targets i set myself in mainstream have been twice as easy to hit as the targets in mainstream. Im not exactly sure why but i do know that our tech in this industry is pretty advanced, and when stuff comes out in adult it usually takes a couple months for the mainstream guys to spin it.
Bottom line...in mainstream you have less of a worry about coming across "bad zones" that the engines dont like, you also have the ability to market and promote your shit on 100X's as many places. (including the mainstream media)
What you need to look at??
Make sure whatever your gonna promote pays. Very few places offer PPS or even a percentage that i see as worth my time (lots of 7-10% payouts...FUCK THAT NOISE) . But you can also find some gold out there....I have many contacts in mainstream and i will tell you some of the hotspots these guys make good bank in is....
GAMBLING
DATING
FINANCES
REAL ESTATE
MOBILES
HEALTH (adsense ROCKS with some good health shit on them)
SCIENCE (once again an adsense builder)
And my all time favorite one....ohhhh....and...
Fuck that. ..heh

I think most people in thisw business are here :
a) because they are pervs because frankly they failed in mainstream/real world.
I was very successful in mainstream and retired to the spend half my time in Manalapan Florida and The countryside of England.
I had interests in car parks ,tailer parks and a classic car garage.
However...
You get used to a certain standard of living lol...and so my burn rate was prretty high.
Fortunately my brother was online fucking around in 96 as I nagged him to come out into the florida sunshine.
After coating him about being a nerd he informed me "there porn" and so I was in like Flynn. LOL
I went to Persian Kitty saw the banners traced back and say that you could earn from them saw PKs counter , assumed everyone clicked on the banners and though "holy crap , you could get rich doing this" LOL
A perfect way to top up my burning nest egg.
I am an opportunist.
I do not just sell porn. Most of my money come from non-adult. I follow the money.
I like the adult world because it is similar to how I made money in the real world.
You can duck and dive , it is unregulated and the competition ain't that great ;-)))

In fact I think it is vice vera..

I dont see where this is disagreeing...
The way you did it was opposite but what you did was the same.
You didnt dabble in mainstream and in adult before finding success but you knew your shit in mainstream BEFOR moving into the opposite field.
The difference with those who are 'successfull' in mainstream are apparent.
Many of the webmasters now looking at mainstream from a 'pornslingers' perspective do fail because they do approach mainstream based on what the 'adult industry' has told them 'mainstream' is
In 'mainstream' they dont call themselves 'mainstream' thats how you can tell if a site, product or service is being offered by someone from the 'porn world'
Thankfully we have some success in the mainstream world so far as gleaming the vast amounts of mainstream webmasters, the problem we're now having is turning all of that traffic into $$$ we'll get there, i have no doubt about that, its just going t take a little longer than we had originally anticipated.
So I'm wondering here JixBiz how much did you make in adult before you decided to go into mainstream and how mush are you making in mainstream?
And between adult and mainstream what kind of income are we talking about... nothing motivates better than seeing what other people are accomplishing..
I should add that Ive watched Nick from waay back when Netpond was C.O.N.D.O.M and I know he is making money!
There are a lot of specialty niches in mainstream just like adult as well...
one I'm pursuing with a partner is http://www.loadbase.com
it's not quite complete yet, but very close.
There are an over 10,000 trucking companies and owner/operators and over 3500 registered freight brokers and they are 5-10 years behind on techonology and eager to learn (when motivated by money ;-))
the two are different animals. sure if you are going to be an affiliate in mainstream the dynamics arent that different, but your business model is the same, the product just change, that isnt starting a mainstream business, its just being an affiliate for someone else who has (nothing wrong with that at all, lot of people have done extraordinarily well)
Originally posted by Nickatilynx@Apr 9 2005, 02:04 PM Nice idea sykk!
membership model + upsells + future offline products like kiosks and wireless internet services
it also helps that my partner in the project has been in the trucking/transport business for over 30 years and his family has been for 80 years
and this is in addition to the other project you heard a few things about but they can also be intermingled ;-)

Ok lets not go down the lines of 'how much do you make'! But I do want some kind of credentials, what have you accomplished?
Start to finish - built and sold with!
I don't know what goes on in secret talks and I don't know you from Adam but you're all over here offering advice and I want to know if the advice is good. If it's not then don't be a wanna-guru!

Well once again it seems that you may be disappointed - this is the adult internet where we are in the business of selling illusions and fantasies.
Some of us even do that when selling ourselves.
The best you can hope for is to take what anyone here may tell you and then weigh it up against common sense, what others say and what you may have learned from your own personal experiences.
But there is one over-riding test that you should apply to everything you are told here or on any other board and that is if it sounds too good to be true then it probably is.
Oh ... and don't ask us to show you what we have already built - that's jsut inviting someone to copy our work and I'm sure every one of us here have had that happen on too many occasions.

I actually started in mainstream and came over to adult. Did ok my first year and a half but snorted it all up like an idiot. Back on track now though.
Allright first off... If anyone of the people OFFERING advice in this thread are newbies that would probably be me.
History.
2 and a half years ago i clicked that elusive "webmaster" link and signed up for Nasty Dollars. Like many newcomers i chased the dream and built galleries and tried my luck at TGPS (like most newbies)
I VERY VERY soon realised that tgp was not the best business model if you were interested in quality reliable traffic. So i embarked on a journey to study traffic generation and hunt down the "best" traffic.
This lead me into SEO and to things like blogs. I can tell you straight up that i spent well over 60 hrs a week for 16 months, studying serps and backlinks on every fuckin page i built plus everyone i could find, listed that i didnt make.
I LEARNT my market, i learned how to attack it, how to intice it, and how to sell it. I focused on one thing and still i strive toward that one thing, the one goal i had for myself, to be able to generate traffic at will from the search engines, the golden traffic.
BUT point in story...i pursued what i was after relentlessly, i didnt sidetrack to try a mgp or sidetrack to try out mailing..i focused on what i wanted as a finished product. Im still not done.
Now it seems everyone here wants to talk about money. I have only officially been fulltime at my online business for less then 4 months. My trade was an electrition (over 10yrs) and my last contracted job was for 43$ an hour plus benefits. I will never need to twist another screwdriver if i choose not to. When the union calls and offers 45 an hour plus 125 travel a day i can just laugh...They could double that salary and it would be less then i make now after 4 months fulltime in my online business.
IT IS NOT EASY, this isnt something that just happens, be prepared to bust your ass and spend more time working for yourself then you ever worked for anyone, otherwise you have allready lost the battle.
But if your good it will all pay off dividends.
As far as calling bullshit, well to each there own, i have nothing to prove to anyone here, and definately would NOT post any official earnings or any of my money making sites. If you would like to talk in private THAT is a diferant story.
Originally posted by Pro_Zac@Apr 9 2005, 03:09 PM I take that as a given but am I really expected to take advice from someone on the basis that the are a mod on a webmaster board?
I think not! Show me that your successful and I'll follow, don't show me.. well then your just another surfer passing time!

How much did you pay for the course ?
Somone's advice around here is free to take or not.

Show me that your successful and I'll follow
As far as following or not, if you are looking for someone to follow then you're in the wrong place. We don't make sheep here and sheep don't survive long around here, we generally skin em and throw them on Steve's barbie and have a big old sheep feast (if Serge doesn't get to them first that is)
If JizBiz (or anyone else for that matter) feels he has something to offer, he is free to speak his mind. If he makes some claim to vast secrets then it is quite proper to call him on it. I haven't seen any such claims yet. I have however seen him offer to help out newbies (which is something that this board is NOT known for) and I have seen him add some value to threads.
Originally posted by Pro_Zac@Apr 9 2005, 04:45 PM Well excuse me, but I gave a tramp a buck the other day and he told me always bet red!
Is that advice I should take because he `offered it` or should I take it at face value!
First of all. I saw JizBiz offer up his opinion. (I know because he stated that it was his opinion) I also saw Nick disagree with his opinion as you are free to.
But I saw nothing that JizBiz said that should have caused a call for his credentials. He didn't promise to make anyone rich, he isn't trying to sell anything (that I can see). As I said, you want to take his advice, take it, you don't want to, don't.
As far as the betting on red I would jusyt ask one question. Do you feel lucky ?
Originally posted by JizBiz@Apr 9 2005, 05:17 PM Wish it was always that simple.
Well, I probably wouldn't have said anything at all if ProZac was actually a newbie, but his statement earlier:

indicates he aint a newbie and that he is just baiting ya.
If he wants to play newbie, thats up to him but if he has been around long enough to remember condom (which was back in the days of stone tablet monitors) then he should have absorbed enough to make it by now through simple osmosis...
