Great show on right now on A&E......

Big ass fucking concert in red square.......

Interviews with Gorbachev..... Lots of Paul "personal" commentary and lots of Russian's talking about what it was like back in the 60's, secretly listening to the Beatles etc......

Lots and lots of Beatles Tunes........

I saw him here in 92 (9th row center at arrowhead) and watching this tonight........McCartney can still ROCK HIS ASS OFF !!!!!

I swear, they want fucking peace in Israel, have McCartney do a concert on the border of Israel and the territories.......

The Beatles..... The universal language.......

I saw a recording of him lately and it seemed like he lost his vocal abilities (the little he had).

I thought it was a very well done show......

Lots of music, good commentary..... They got the balance right....

I especially found it interesting when they were talking to Gorbachev and then later Putin....... Both of whom gave the Beatles credit for introducing the idea of freedom to certain parts of the population....

Also very cool after Putin came into the concert to see the bodyguards tapping their feet and singing along to the music.......

The first half of the show was predominantly 35-40 year old songs, yet they sounded very fresh....

Not at all a Beatles fan

(I hold them partially responsible for killing real raw rock-n-roll,
what was Chuck Berry and sock hops became drug influenced "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" and "Strawberry Fields" neither of which can you dance or fuck to -
in defense of the beatles I believe the first time I ever heard modern purposeful guitar distortion used was "Back in the USSR" )

However I recognize the significant contributions the Beatles made to society and the world of music

and early Wings was cool, stuff like Jet, Helen Wheels, Soiley, Medicine Jar

A scene cut from Pulp Fiction has Mia Wallace saying you are either a Beatles man or an Elvis man ......

I'm an Elvis man

I like them both.

But Elvis cannot IMHO compete with The Beatles as he was not a songwriter.

In a couple of hundred years, people will remember Lennon/McCartney as the equivelent of a Mozart.

No one rememebers the virtuosos of that era

That was a hell of alot of people there too.

I have been to the Red Square a few times, and
the place where they held it, near Lenins Tomb
is huge.

Can you imagine having a concert on the lawn
of the White house?
hahaha

Whats that man movin' cross the stage ?
It looks a lot like the one used by Jimmy Page
Its like a relic from a different age

If there's a ROCK SHOW at the Concertgebow
They've got long hair at the Madison Square
You've got Rock and Roll at the Hollywood
We'll be there .... Oh yeah ....
The lights go down - they're back in town O.K.
Behind the rtacks you glimpse an axe
The tension mounts you score an ounce Ole !
Temperatures rise as you see the white of their eyes
If there's a ROCK SHOW ....

dantheman,

You know they will.

the defence Minister of Russia admitting he listerned to the albulms as a kid illegally was eye opening and saying it was why he learned English which btw was faultless.

The rest of the cut Pulp Fiction scene has Mia Wallace saying you can like both Elvis and the Beatles but you can not like both equally, you have to like one more than the other

Lennon/McCartney obviously are/were very talented but I'm not sure if they will be remembered as great songwriters in 200 years (if there still is a planet earth as we know it)

Reasoning is they were very simplistic songwriters for the most part with no particular emphasis on writing dynamics such as meter (notable exception "Norwegian Wood")

Doesn't mean they weren't great, just as I've stated ad nasuem... not my cup of tea

Point taken and duly noted

Everything I heard/read said it was an excellent show last night

One good thing from this thread for me, I'm going back and remembering a lot of great Wings songs - Junior's Farm, Live And Let Die, Magneto And Titanium Man and so on

Considering jamming TheNickBot with bootleg UFO recordings from the 70's & 80's on general principal
