Jenna Jameson unwelcome at Marine Corps Ball

There are only two weeks left until the Marine Corps birthday, and the air station in Miramar doesn’t have a guest of honor for its ball. Ultimate Fighting Championship brawler Tito Ortiz was slated to fill that chair at the beginning of the month, but canceled on Thursday after air station officials asked him to un-invite his girlfriend and date for the event, porn star Jenna Jameson.

“We invited him, and he accepted. Then, it became aware to us that his guest was going to be his girlfriend. Then, we had to make a decision, and the decision made was that she was not an individual or guest that we really felt was appropriate for the Marine Corps ball,” said Maj. Jason Johnston, a spokesman at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, Calif.

Miramar officials hoped that Ortiz might still attend the ball and simply leave Jenna at home, but “his point was, hey, that’s his girlfriend, they’re very much in love, and he’s going to have to decline the offer,” Johnston said. “And we very much understand.”

Johnston acknowledged that asking Ortiz to attend without his girlfriend could be seen as a bit rude. But he said Miramar officials weighed that against preserving the spirit and heritage of the ball.

“Un-inviting a guest is something you don’t do without serious considerations,” Johnston said. “We did think about how it would be rude to un-invite him, and many other opinions were considered in this matter. Ultimately, it was the [commanding officer’s] decision.”

Miramar’s decision and Ortiz’s withdrawal were announced two days after a short article ran on www.marinecorpstimes.com, which quoted Miramar spokeswoman 2nd Lt. Katheryn Putnam’s confirmation that the station expected both Ortiz and Jameson at the sold-out ball.

I like Tito and Jenna but it would have been inappropriate for her to go to the ball. It's a tradition and not meant to be a media circus. I am not saying either of them would not have handled themselves appropriately at the event, but like in all things celeb its not them you really have to worry about but what follows them around.
the Marine Corps Ball is just not the place for the most famous porn star in the world to be spending her evening.

Fuck that shit, Spaz. It's not like the corps is made up of the salt of the earth or something. Hell, when I was young, the only guys that went into the Marines were the ones that got in trouble and were made to go by the court, or the ones that thought they were badasses and had something to prove, or the ones that weren't too bright and thought they had a spiffy uniform and it would help them pick up chicks. Now, if it was the Air Force Ball, maybe I'd see your point..... well, no... actually I wouldn't see it then either.

They knew who his girlfriend was before they invited him, so what does that say for the braintrust that thought he wouldn't bring his girlfriend?

well... ahemmm.... fuck that shit Hammer, doesn't matter who the fuck wears the uniform now or who you knew who went into the Corps... BTW, when I enlisted in it the Corps was very difficult to get in and they were very selective... they could afford to be as the smallest of the branches and had plenty of 'bad asses' who wanted in.

It is not about salt of the earth or any of that bullshit it is tradition and anyone who puts on the Eagle Globe and Anchor tends to respect that tradition..... Personally I don't think that the ball is any place for Tito Ortiz either but apparently they forgot to ask me this year
