he has no right to a fair and speedy trial if he is not tried in the US under the Bill of Rights...

however i do not know what the tribunals rules are.

I looked at it this morning. He has a right to any defense he can put together.

Saddam is absolutely crazy if he thinks an American lawyer is going to work for his best interests.

Especially one that has such close connections to the US political machine.

He would have been better served finding a regular lawyer imho.

What would be the basis of his defence?

I'd go for "illegal act of war on the US's part" yadda yadda..

Under international law he will have grounds to use that defense.

In all honesty though, i dont think that will be of any benefit to him based on the last 15 years media coverage, even if he loses, he will still have the no fair tribunal / trial / hearing defense because lets be honest.. is there anyone in th world ho hasnt heard of the guy?
