"The phrase "this is what democracy looks like" changed meaning as the protest of President Bush's appearance in Springfield unfolded. Initially, the phrase described the thousands of people lined up with tickets, waiting to enter the field house, being reminded not all people in southwest Missouri thought this president deserved four more years of leadership that had launched wars resulting in thousands dead and tens of thousands wounded, a national debt increasing at $1.69 billion a day, and an atmosphere of secrecy in America.
The Secret Service told protesters where to gather; the location was excellent. Democracy was working: People were exercising their right to assemble while others exercised their right to protest. But when police told protesters they had to move about 200 feet away, while the people supporting Bush remained in place, the atmosphere grew tense." http://springfield.news-leader.com/opinion...lyw-147362.html i know it doesn't even matter what i say, but don't you know there's got to be a better way? |

I would imagine the feds are pretty paranoid about the security of the President and other Candidates. There is no doubt both are targets of the enemy.

Well, well... small world indeed... lol
Protestors were allowed to move several times. Each time being closer to the facility. The park is on a narrow inner city street a block from Hammons tower (Hammons Field... one guess who has the big bucks in this town that makes Johnny from Bass Pro look like he's still selling lures in Brown Derby liquor stores). Anyway, the biggest rights stomp was when one lady who HAD A TICKET tried to enter statium. The ticket person barred her entering, took her ticket and tore it up, then pushed her to move away. She poked a finger in his arm and was summarily thrown to the ground. Other protestors attempted to pick up her belongings, spilled purse ect but they were not allowed to do so. To me, that is a bit of overraction... But maybe she didn't know the Assemblies of God secret handshake... For those that aren't privy, AOG HQ is in Springfield... They comprise the Rel Right block/money trough that Ashcroft feeds from yet can't even beat a dead guy in an election... No other pres has made as many trips to podunkville as current one, even Truman. Then again, the tithing goldmine wasn't here back then either... *end rant*
