Who owns it? I've heard the name of the program but don't recall dealing with anyone from there.

Hoop - did they hint as to what the problem is?

Acacia Utilizes Court Injunction to Close Down Go Entertainment Websites Violating DMT Patents

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 19, 2003--Acacia Research Corporation (Nasdaq: ACTG; CBMX) announced today that its Acacia Technologies group has caused 42 websites owned by Go Entertainment, Inc. to be closed down. The websites were continuing to utilize Acacia's Digital Media Transmission (DMT) technology in violation of a Court Order.
The District Court for the Central District of California issued an injunction prohibiting Go Entertainment from continuing to use Acacia's DMT technology without a license. Acacia successfully enforced the injunction against Go Entertainment's web hosting company.

Acacia has entered into 40 license agreements for its DMT technology.

Acacia's DMT technology, which is covered by pioneering patents, relates to audio and video transmission and receiving systems, commonly known as audio-on-demand, video-on-demand, and audio/video streaming, and is used for distributing digital content via several means including Internet, cable television, and wireless systems.

ABOUT ACACIA RESEARCH CORPORATION

Acacia Research Corporation comprises two operating groups, Acacia Technologies Group and CombiMatrix Group.

The Acacia Technologies group licenses its DMT and V-Chip technologies to media and electronics companies. The DMT technology covers the transmission and receipt of digital audio and digital video content, commonly known as audio on-demand, video on-demand, and audio/video streaming, and is supported by 5 U.S. and 17 international patents.

The CombiMatrix group is developing a platform technology to rapidly produce customizable active biochips, which are semiconductor-based tools for use in identifying and determining the roles of genes, gene mutations and proteins. CombiMatrix's technology has a wide range of applications including DNA synthesis/diagnostics, drug discovery, and immunochemical detection. CombiMatrix's Express Track(SM) drug discovery program is a systems biology approach, using its technology, to target common viral diseases with siRNA compounds.

Acacia Research-Acacia Technologies (Nasdaq: ACTG) and Acacia Research-CombiMatrix (Nasdaq:CBMX) are both classes of common stock issued by Acacia Research Corporation and are intended to reflect the performance of the respective operating groups and are not issued by the operating groups.

Information about the Acacia Technologies group and the CombiMatrix group is available at www.acaciaresearch.com.

This would be the first official post-Oct-1st program fatality, yes?

Cyberage pulled a big whopper today resulting in all CA links getting pulled from Link O'Rama... other big LLs will probably follow suit and I don't see CA lasting long if they don't reverse their change.

Am I correct in assuming that they could do this to ANYONE who hasn't settled or am I missing a piece of the puzzle?

Well if THAT'S the case, they got what they deserve, IMHO.

And the plot thickens

The only court orders obtained, to my knowledge, are the ones against the companies that failed to show up in court.

Of course, that doesn't contribute to the hysteria ...

a) Irony. They settle but then find they can't make the VISA 1%?

b) They figure they can make the 1% -- but only if they get rid of their affiliates?

c) They close down after settling so they can then open up under a new company name as a kind of Acacia stall tactic?

... Just some musings.

Acacia is not about to shut anyone down that stands up and deals with them professionally.

They can only enforce those injunctions against companies that do not respond to it and do not show up in court.

Oops, skip my "b)" above, I somehow overlooked the part about the sites being shut down until now. Went over there. Their affiliate program appears to be up and the webmaster signup page too. Typed in a few of their sites (and made sure I had the correct names by checking with whois) and they surely do not exist anymore; get the redirect thing.

Makes you wonder what they've done with the members areas. Might they have been at the same domains, or a secondary like 'members'" (if so, checked, they don't exist either), or still somewhere else. Could they actually have closed those down?! I would doubt it, but it makes one wonder.

While it was definitely stupid of them to ignore the ARCACIA lawsuit, this shows that those fuckrags at ACACIA are nothing more than bloodsucking vampires (and not in the fun way) and that's why I consider it a kick in the balls when these big companies are settling with them (and spinning it as if they are doing us all a favor).

What next? Political contributions to John Ashcroft? How about donating to an auction for the Hitler estate? Maybe a personal loan to Edwin Meese or Jimmy Swaggart?

Todd, me too
but if people are willing to sell everything out to ACACIA, why not one of the biggest anti-porn people around?

ACACIA was probably right though, we are low hanging fruit and weak...very few spines left in this busines........
