http://apnews1.iwon.com/article/20030629/D.../D7RVE8FO0.html

He's talking about his new movie "The Passion" which entails the final 12 hours of Christ's life. The film is shot in Aramaic.

The oddest part:
Gibson said the film "was a strange mixture of the most difficult thing I've ever done, along with this incredible ease. Everyone who worked on this movie was changed. There were agnostics and Muslims on set converting to Christianity."

hmmm, maybe we can get rid of those rascially muslims by making more movies about Jesus?

The muslim/islam goal is to convert the entire world to Islam. So by your own logic, if Mel Gibson has lost it, so has every muslim, no?

I think he was making a statement as to the powerful nature of the story rather than anything anti islamic.

Great, another movie with subtitles.

I've heard Jewish groups complained that he portrayed Jews as blood thirsty.

subtitles don't take away from a movie for me. If it is a good movie they just go in the eye to the brain. However, Gibson lost it for me when I noticed how any gay people in his movies get killed, etc. Somehow I think I will skip that one.

I guess I missed that - can you post a couple of examples? That's odd... my daughter recognizes him as "the guy in all those movies that gets shot at but never ever dies..." lol The Patriot, We Were Soldiers...etc... just some flicks we've seen recently via NetFlix.

Everyone has an agenda...

the time that I first noticed it was in Braveheart when the gay lover of the prince (or whatever) gets simply picked up and thrown out the window. It wasn't a matter of historical accurecy..otherwise more of the movie would have been true to history.

His over the top parody of a gay man in Bird on a Wire ticked off a lot of people but as I don't know what the direction on that scene was I don't really mind it as much.

However, when I read a number of his comments regarding gays and in particular his gay fans I decided he was someone I didn't need to waste my money on.

All that said, he is a strict catholic and has every right to be.

haha so we've gone from any gays get killed in his movies... to one example of a gay guy getting killed in Braveheart of all movies. Hundreds if not thousands of presumably heterosexuals dies in Braveheart. Does that offend you too? LMAO

:P

Seriously, if you're looking to be offended, you'll find something to offend you in almost everything. Even in something as absurd as one gay person dying in a movie with hundreds of heterosexual deaths...

no to be honest I am flaking out, around the time that Braveheart came out I read a good number of articles about his movies and gay representation of them. That was followed by listening to his views on women's rights, other religions, etc. Damned if I could find the article though so frankly wasn't trying all that hard to find it but picking off what I could remember off my head.

The difference was in Braveheart he was killed primarly because of being gay rather than as a result of a war. Anyway, watch the The Celluloid Closet to get a better idea of the history of the potrayal of gays and lesbians in Hollywood. If nothing else it is an interesting watch and perhaps might explain why some people get touchy.

Some interesting perspectives.

I see it as the same religious propaganda as ever, even though everyone says there is no religious war, let's not kidd ourselves - we are at the beginning of a crusade. Again.
