So, what would be the difference between this and selling newbies "turnkey" sites which I am sure you know almost always fail.

Preying on the newbies is bottom feeding stuff, imho of course.


As always in life "Caveat Emptor" will always prevail but I would think that a responsible company would tell newbies "go learn the ropes, learn how to build traffic and then come back".

I disagree. This is just business. It sounds like selling a franchise to me. If not, then its still ok in my books. A smart guy can make make money out of turnkey. Chances are not as good, but it is possible.

Selling a franchise to somene who has no experience running a business would be irresponsible in my opinion.

Selling a turnkey to someone who knows nothing about adult is irresponsible.

I don't think you would do that, but I could be wrong as I often am.

Didn't see that movie and you are right. I prolly wouldn't do that. But I am still not that opposed to it. There are much worse things to worry about in this business.
Anyway, its twenty degrees (no idea what that is in F) I got my shorts on and I am hitting the trail and walking up a river, then up a mountain and get a hit of fresh air that hasn't been through a computer cooling fan a few times. CYA

Hi Sarettah, I agree with you. I hate the word "Turnkey", but at the same time it is an effective marketing word. People like the idea that a complex product loaded with modules, is "complete", "ready to go", and "turnkey". However, I would disagree to call it "preying on newbies".

Any website that any webmaster builds for someone is "turn key". In an adult site, what does it include? Tour pages, galleries, membership areas, billing, user or password management, etc. Is this not turn-key?

I love the ContentGod.com purchase page and can completely feel the frustration the person who wrote this had. We have something similar on our FAQ page located at http://2much.net/faq.php which reads:

Yeah, Drav, who owns content god, is a pretty good friend of mine and that got written after dealing with lots of frustration with people who bought it thinking it was a magic box. He spent lots of time making the installs right and having his support people walking people through it.

However, when they failed, even after all the help, I believe he returned the money and said sorry it didn't work out.

If a company markets to newbies then they have to go all the way and I do mean all the way because, after all they are newbies.

Correct me if I am wrong, but a "Franchise" is usually a complete kit with a business model, crazy details on costs, etc. Like buying a McDonalds. We don't say the word Franchise because its not. LiveCamNetwork is just a video chat program, and thats it.

You just gave me a good idea though... if we were to begin referring customers to you, would you like to know in advance what level of experience they had (or claim to have anyway)? For example, Newbie... moderate.... expert? And would that level determine your acceptance of their business or not?

Maybe it would be a good idea to ask customers to indicate this somehow...

Before even thinking of purchasing this, a few things must be explained ...



THIS IS NOT A MAGIC WAND!


If you have zero or near zero knowledge on how to build sites and galleries, this will not do everything for you nor will it instill you with the knowledge you lack. If you are a brand new newbie, GET OUT NOW. (And come back later when you have a remote idea of what you are doing.)

This is a TOOL. A tool for the HARD-WORKING webmaster. A tool that will make things easier. Make sites and galleries quicker. It won't give you knowledge; it won't magically do things for you without your input. It's a program. It's just that simple a concept. :-)

If you are not even slightly technical, can't program your VCR and can't read docs, GET OUT NOW!

If you are at a cheap crap host, one that doesn't allow outsiders to install scripts, that doesn't have basic Perl modules, that charges you ten bucks a month ... Then go to a real server -- a real adult server -- THEN come back and purchase this. If you have had a host for a while and it works great, but you have not had a large script or script suite running on it, have not pulmeted it with traffic, do not think it will necessarily hold up to more traffic from the galleries and sites this script will generate, and do not automatically believe it can run a complex script; maybe it can, maybe it can not. Be sure! We are tired of doing two free installs because webmasters are using idiots who can barely run a calculator masquerading as hosts. (If this trend continues in the future, we will be forced to eliminate free installs and also start charging in the future for second installs.) But for the moment, installs continue to be free.

As you can see, we have had our share of newbies. And we have had our share of good webmasters who DO know what they are doing however who have had server admins who are total screwups who can't install a simple library file in after five tries! Either way, this is driving up the cost of doing business to the point where we do not want that kind of business or else we will have to start charging for every little thing to compensate for losses in man-hours.

Therefore, know what you are doing, and check with your host PRIOR to purchasing this to see if they can handle it. Any half-way decent adult host can handle this with ease. NOTE: WE and no one else can install this. Neither webmasters, nor host admins nor "your very special private techie" can install this, as we have proprietary encryption and security schemas to ensure this program is not hacked or stolen or found on warez sites tomorrow. There are ZERO exceptions to this rule. This is our business and we have and we will protect it such that only ourselves and legitimate purchasers have copies of it. Note also that we are as much concerned with your security and we have installed this on some very security-conscious sites of major "players" and corporations in the adult industry and they have all gone smoothly.

That's not harsh, that's not anti-customer service; that's just the honest reality. Our customer support is OUTSTANDING! We just won't keep spoon-feeding those who are too new or too non-technical to ever have this program in their hands.
