I was going to use a cardboard box at first, was told by a few people that is what they use. Parent said no. Now I want to use a case from a broken DVD player, like the metal casing that went around it. Anyone know if this is a good idea? If it is, do I need something to ground it since the case is metal?

Or does everyone think I should buy a case?

I ran a server that was a pile of circuit boards for 3 years.... No case... Nada...

Just make sure that nothing is metal to metal (hard drives, etc) and you are fine.....

I like how you're now poor, lol!

Sorry, but watch the news - trailers burn to the ground with nothing more than a match strike - ain't nobody building a computer in a freaking cardboard box in my house.

$21 and your problem is solved.. looks like it even has a power supply and usb ports.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...3&category=3669

Or if you want to find another one.. here is a shortcut to relevant results.
http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?q...10&BasicSearch=

I've had friends that just had their computers in a pile of hardware sitting off to one side. Get a box they don't cost much.. not sure where you live but there should be an electronics discount place near by. Its cheaper to buy a case than it is to try and build something.. as long as that something isn't made out of cardboard. haha

If her head were barren and had lots of free space, how could she do every day functions like breath or type?

What kind of insult is that to say her uterus is barren and full of free space? All you are saying is that she is not pregnant.

Well, the thing is, I can buy a real cheap case for $1 if I wanted on EBay, but then they charge an arm and a leg for shipping.

That's what *I* think!

I also have the following that are on the way to the dump - would the case from one of these be better or worse than card board?

DVD Player
VCR
TiVo
Satellite receiver
