I figure some of the oldtimers, will have some valuable tidbits of info to add to this as it grows.
Whats the big deal? huge workload and the whole industry will need to be creative to follow rules. I made a suggestion..just a few quick ideas...not sure if it is even feasible though.. feedback appreciated is there room for a centralized 2257 reporting office..basically where everyone hs to register all their content..and it can serve as the liason....basically a way to keep info private and also keep records in one place just off the top of my head..but i also suggested this last year when this first came up... could run like an affiliate program basically, to publish porn online you will need to be a member, if you have anything to do with the USA anyway. Records of all content can be kept, affiliates using the content would need to sign for it or have some sort of identifier, another affiliate code perhaps...automated system would store and keep track of everything needed. This would probably create jobs as well, as to cover the whole industry, you'd need a few employees im sure.l. And perhaps yet another "Legit" buffer between the government and it's direct meddling in online commerce. We need more representation. |
Nothing much to discuss until they get the final published and we know what is in it.

here is a brief synopsis of the new regulations, before they passed...it is an easy read..point form having the records online at a centralized location goes against their wish that the secondary producers(webmasters) need to have the documents on hand...i think an argument can be made to refine the procedures....Membership must be granted or you wont see stats, can't get paid, not in the circle basically this is just a starting point, but if we don't offer up solutions now, it will be too late. im guessing it wil be up to the lawyers to make our objections and suggestions heard. However isn't there some other way to reach the people who hold the power? Idea time..this is sounding like a union damn it |

As to your idea, I had the same idea back the day the new proposed regs were issued, even mapped out a full strategy on it. Bought 4 domains to use for implementation, designed a database for housing of info, devised a way to get the info into the hands of the people that need it to satisfy the requirements of records being kept on site the whole schmear. Noone seemed interested. Anyway, I pointed my dns away from the stuff I had about a month ago, I just changed it back to point at the site so when dns rolls fully around it can be accessed at http://www.2257ez.com various pages in there are: http://www.2257ez.com/producer_registration.htm http://www.2257ez.com/media_registration.htm http://www.2257ez.com/performer_registration.htm http://www.2257ez.com/index_hold.htm (front page for live implementation sort of) |

So a better implementation is a central holding facility where individuals get permission from prodcers to download the info the need in a format that satisfies the feds for their recordkeeping requirements. |
How does it affewct you if you are based in Canada.
Or if you are based in Europe? |
Sarettah, great idea! Too bad it's diametrically opposed to what the law says you're supposed to do. You can have all the centralized off-location maintained by whoever 2257 services you want. But the fact remains that producers must have their docs in possession and organized according to the regulation. And whether or not the law requires it, secondary producers would be smart to do the exact same thing.
If you (not you personally, just a figurative you) can't follow the regs, why even take on the risk of being in this business? |
Again , doesn't this law only affect Americans?

It's not DIRECTLY connected to the 2257 regulation, just the "trickle down" effect. :D |
Well...the only way it will work is if we can get a voice on the same platform, who can lobby for us.
Working together with the legislation makers to construct some regulations that make sense and which are easily compliable. |

Simple solution...
Everyone move offshore :) |

Or just comply with the law. |

<---- not an American :redance:

I definitely understand your line of thinking! :okthumb: Personally, I'm just going to comply with the law, and let the herd thin as it may. |

It's not DIRECTLY connected to the 2257 regulation, just the "trickle down" effect. :D [/b][/quote] Which would probably get laughed out of court. 1 - The US based "producer" as might be defined by the new regs has to have sole responsibility for their documents, be they primary or secondary. There's no "the primary producer didn't give me the docs" get-out clause & hence no duty of care on the primary producer. 2 - Where would they sue exactly? Canada doesn't have 2257, so no case there. US courts have little or no jurisdiction over foreign nationals in criminal cases, let alone civil ones. That said, you can of course sue for anything :-) |

I was just pulling an example off the top of my head. If nothing else, there's the nuisance value of dealing with potential lawsuits. Only people who need to worry about it are people who aren't operating properly, so... :) |
So basically...
The US does not own the internet. And the more difficult the US makes it for US citizens to profit from the internet , the more we Non Americans giggle like bitches. :) |
we will obviously have to comply..i expect the new law to be made public shortly
my point is..if we had a voice, we could monitor and influence regulations. not everyone wants to pass a useless law im going to stop worrying until i see the new bill...and then find out what steps we can take to to put the new law off while a better solution is found..it is that interim part that we have to find a way to control jerry springer..howard stern..anyone who will put us on..we need attention we are not monsters, we are advertisers and publishers |

Oh for fucks sake... I have heard this at least 20 times since 1996/97. Andy Edmonds was gonna get lobbyists etrc etc etc... Wake the fuck up , mate. We are fucking pornographers. To most people we rank just above drug dealers. And frankly a high number of content producers I wouldn't have in my house!! Shit..... throw in some sleezes , a bunch of fucking surfers trying to get rich quick on GFY without a pot to piss in nor anywhere to throw it ,..ahahahahahahaha We aren't an Industry , we a loose collection of pervs , shut ins and opportunists LOL ;-))) |

The concept was to collect all the data centrally then allow the secondary producers (from any realm) grab the docs they need and store them digitally locally. Which would satisfy the record keeping requirements for each individual producer/publisher and at the same time provide a more detailed paper trail of exactly who is who and what is what. |

Everything Nick said is true. People (even most of those who LIKE what we do) don't look at us as upstanding businesspeople. Just get used to that. Show up and testify in front of Congress all you want, you'll still get the "uh-huh, yeah, ok" response. Because you live in the U.S., you have to comply with U.S. law. And laws dealing with the adult industry will always be intentionally vague and will leave plenty of leeway for prosecution. Best bet is to read the law, have your attorney read the law (you have an attorney on retainer, right?), read the law again, and work out a strategy that overcomplies with the law as it is written. |

Exactly!!! ahahahahahahahahahhaha Have you seen webmasters ? Which of us are we gonna send to represent us. dugmor? Steve sweet? Me? Joesho? shit....most of would qualify as hollywood extras under the following criteria... Slezoids Gangsters and Thugs Teenage pencil neck nerds Fat Fucking Nobodies I'm with aeon on this...in general we really are a bunch of cunts...lol Sorry but this old spammer DOES look down his nose at most involved in the porn business. Why? At least I made a bucket full of cash from it , and still do. :) The ones that amaze me are the ones who have tainted there names and destroyed any chance of success in mainstream for $2000 a mth as a board whore. ....now don't get me on a rant... :) |

All I'd need is for one person to find their way into the system as a secondary producer, download a bunch of documentation that they "needed," and then pull something funny with a model (since they'd have real name and contact info). Beautiful liability there. |

In the end all we have to do is jump through some hoops and get organised...but what a pain im just trying to offfer some constructive ideas. It doesnt help to sit and do nothing. One friend on the hill could make a difference. not likely to befriend us however here how to affect policy change 101 http://www.thecapitol.net/FAQ/influencepolicy.htm lol..laughable for us...however if we can offer a better solution we can surely find a way to have them implement it |

There are some "webmasters" who scare me more than surfers do. I remember J'smoron on here a while ago trying to freak me out and threating to post my real name on this board. I dont know how he found that info. If someone really wants to find out a model's personal details (or anyone elses for that matter) its probably not that difficult - 2257 or no 2257. Sabby:) |
Then there was some webmaster that stalked a model on cam chat , I believe Aga ended up banning them from Netpond.
Some real sleeze... Can't remember who it was though... |
Quote:
The model releases and ids and such would be kept secure and a content producer would have to provide a client with a special password to get to them. The info that would be available to all would be the list of all aliases, the list of all media that the model appeared on, the list of all others who appeared with him/her, the list of producers that the model had worked with. All the papertrail other than the ids and releases. Now, if a model chose to put her/his id into the system and wanted it open to all, that would be their choice. The idea was to create as much of the papertrail as possible and to be able to access it on the fly. for example: Content producer A has decided tro be part of the system. They would provide all the info they have to the system (bulk load available :)) They would (if they chose) provide the ids and releases to the secure part of the system. Client B buys a set from Content Producer A. Producer A tells Client B to gop to the system and enter a set id that provides the paper trail to Client B. In addition, the producer tells the system that client B has bought he set and therefore producer wants the client to be able to access the releases and ids. The system provides a one time use password back to the producer. Producer passes this password back to the client. Client goes to the system enters the password and gets the releases and ids. If for some reason, the client needs to re download the ids then he must go back to the producer and get a new password |
