Sasha Grey keynote speaker at AVN show

WOW! What was AVN thinking?? I just forced myself to watch that entire fiasco, and she was awful. Not just for herself, but for the industry as a whole. Someone over at AVN really needs to look up "Keynote Address" in a dictionary. (someone please explain to me how this was, in any way, a Keynote Address!) She should have talked about the state of the industry as it is now, and the thrust of the show. not about herself.

She spent a couple of minutes talking about the past, and the supposed way everyone used to work together (which just never happened). Then she went on about herself, her new company, and how she was going to finally make good movies! She basically shit on all the producers in the audience! In the Q&A section, she also shit on the public! This chick is poison and no one should ever let her speak again!

To the rest of you... what on earth did you expect? Some earth-shattering keynote speech from a world leader? Look, I have zero to do with AEE or who speaks there, but since everyone here has a negative outlook on it, I'd really like to know.... WHO you would have chosen to speak, and what they should speak about?

The common theme there is that they've all been in the business long enough to have some perspective on where the industry has been, where it is now, where it has succeeded, where it has failed, and where it may be headed. Those are the topics generally touched upon in a keynote address.

I won't argue with that. My suggestion is (if you do care, and apparently you do enough to discuss this) contact the folks at vsda.org and tell them what you think.

I agree with those names, or even Tera. She's managed to straddle several worlds. I know she doesn't have a "cozy" relationship with AVN, but we're all "grown-ups" here.


Nina Hartley certainly has something to say, (and would have done it eloquently,) as does the hedgehog.

Even Regina Lynn would have been a decent speaker.

What would anyone expect Evil? You think because we sell pornography we are a buncha morons that think the opinion of a young porn chick will in anyway be of interest to us except as a curiosity? You posted those sixth grade videos of a girl who was semi coherent on this business, so the assumption is you want an opinion.
Now that you are an employee of this company, paid to do this kind of thing....(note to self...don't use the W word) you might expect to do a little damage control. You are an oar in their boat now.
Face it....that was an embarrassing disaster of a presentation by a company that was taking the piss out of the rest of us. Total disrespect for their peers. This kind of shit will not help their business one bit.

edit: just a sidenote. apparently preparation and opportunity never even shook hands.

Get your shit together rhetorical. I have nothing to do with AEE. I'm not even defending them, their show, or their choice of keynote speaker. What I am doing, however, is questioning what you would have done instead since it's all to easy to whinge about their choice. I have no "oar in their boat", and no... I'm not paid to do this kind of thing. Stop assuming you know everything about me, and what I do. Back up your negativity or button it.

Isn't AEE owned and run by AVN? I had thought it was and always had been. I can't see the EMA running it, especially when they have companies like Blockbusters on their board. A number of the board members are very vocal in their anti-Porn stance.

Who is running AEE these days? It still seems to be known as "AVN Adult Entertainment Expo"
