Just an observation and a question. Mike South seems to be a revered source of porn gossip. But, because there is a whole world of non mainstream out there, most of "us"
have absolutely no idea of who he is or what his bona fides are. I know, not being part of the American porn circle prolly means we are piss poor wankers, but could someone please...maybe MS, please give me some background on this guy. Like a CV, so I can make a serious judgment on his editorials. Otherwise, this shit has as much weight as an rcourt or sheleeteaser post. No offense, but wtf is Mike South? Give me a reason to care about his opinion about the world wide porn business. Otherwise all I see is a parochial view on the world which, at the moment, is rapidly losing relevance.

I read the article and it is good reading. It certainly was low on credibility. My fav quote:
"On welfare. Please. What newly retired porn star with her brand new Mercedes, tax statements showing a six figure income, and still-perfect body due to the fact that she’s never had a kid is going to pull up to the local welfare office and qualify. Spare me."
It was written by someone with a pretty narrow view of the porn biz as a whole.
As for Mike South, I did Google him and was looking for a more personal bio. Two time AVN awards are not exactly Oscars, nor anything I would ever put on my mantle because this ain't film making and it takes very little talent to produce.

I actually like MS's stuff and find him very erudite in a local kind of way. He is witty and interesting, hence the original question. It wasn't meant to wake up the dead (Jace). But it seems whenever I ask a straight ahead question the usual suspects just get....well how can I put it????? I know.....pouty.

BTW, I am so out of it I have no idea who Kayden Kross is, nor do I care to google her because I have very little interest in mainstream internet.

Just curious, Mike. Why do you think she did a good job? I thought it trotted out a bunch of arguments that could be blown up by anyone with a bitch against this business. That quote that I posted showed no understanding of the average porn "star" as the term us used. There are tons of them on welfare, overloaded with kids and houses with wheels. Very few porn actors actually make a good living from this business and even fewer make six figures. She makes huge assumptions about the business and you say she is a newcomer. Well this article sounds like it was written by a starry eyed newcomer.
Its articles like this, that fire from the hip, that do nothing but preach to the converted but are of no value in furthering "the cause". Certainly it does nothing to refute any of the reasons quoted for this tax.

BTW, if the business flees California and y'all gotta work, say hello when you cross the border as we crank up production to fill the gap.
