"terminated the case" is a bit misleading. What that means in terms of this suit is that TorrentSpy's case for defense was terminated thereby awarding a complete victory to MPAA.

I decided to see what the fuss was all about and I signed up on pirate bay and on empornium and I downloaded some DVDs or tried to...

a dvd 9 will take DAYS download rates of more than 150k/s were rare

more than 200k didnt seem to exist even on a well seeded title.

then I went on usent and got the same titles on dvd 9 in a couple of hours (I have 8mb/s cable)

thats where the real threat is.

Im wondering if anyone who downloads say "Pirates" off a torrent site would have ever bought it anyway.....hardly worth the damn wait....

Now usenet...theres a whole different story there.

Mike, the people I know that are ACTIVE movie traders set up seperate PCs and often purchase a seperate internet connection and leave the box running for weeks at a time collecting a long list of stuff. They don't look at it as "I need this now", but rather as a long term project. Some of my asian friends are particularly heavy into this, mostly to get movies from Hong Kong and Singapore that they can't get here.

2 or 3 days to download a movie isn't important to them. They will get it, sooner or later.
