OK, then a newbie is someone that is brand new to the industry. The rest are either pros or hodads and the vast majority are the latter.

I am new but if I sit through one more useless panel at a show i think I will have earned a star or two.

Because AVN can't seem to pick decent seminar topics or panelists. If they'd pick them based on their experience and willingness to share the information instead of basing the picks on politics and greased palms, it might help.

I see, well its what we've evolved into, kinda of an old fashion "I'll scratch your, if you scratch mine" system of ordinance. I should probably start attending these things when they're held. Besides, Shelleehale looks pretty cute to spend time with.

The one I was on could have been quite useful had there not be a tweaker substituted at th last mnute that wanted to answer every question with his vast experience of 10 months.

I think he was destined to wear the uniform he had on for the panel....

Ahhhh yes....panels....

I've been going to shows since 1998. My first one was back when the precursor to Internext was at the Monte Carlo in vegas. I go to a couple a year, the January Vegas show is the only one I usually go to without fail.

During all that time, how many panels have I sat thru? I can count 'em on one hand. Yet, I almost always accomplish my goals for every show.

The problems with panels...

1) Selection of topics.

2) Finding someone who actually has something valuable to contribute to the topic to sit on the panel.

3) Getting them to open up and be forthcoming.

No one who has a really cool new idea and is making bank with it is going to sit on a panel and introduce everyone else to it. Again, this business strip mines. If you have 3-4 sites kicking ass with some new fangled innovation, as soon as the word gets out, there'll be so many of them no one can make more than beer money off of the concept.

I do my business at a corner table somewhere near the bar.

I would basically agree with that statement. Although, a real hodad isn't even trying to do anything, they are straight out posers, there are other categories involved.

OK, here are my suggestions for levels of hodadiness. Feel free to add your own.

Hoboy - Barely out of newbiness
Hodaddy - Pimp wannabe
Homamma - Female hodad
Hodad - Experienced at the art of hodaddery
Hopop - Grandfathered in Hodad
