I know more than enough people in the "surfer" realm that are technically (or just generally) savvy enough to know when they are being bamboozled or to figure out how things work. This isn't the 90's anymore, it's the internet generation. And ESPECIALLY those who work in tech support etc, they will know/figure out how the system works.

Perhaps Gonzo's plan is to make this into a surfer board and he's legit.
