How did Oprano start?


as sort of a joke, a fun place under the domain ynottoppond.com named after 3 Adult WM posting boards


MikeAI started it and some of us posted there back and forth, some business and a lot of stuff about food and whatever we thought was interesting

Then Serge and MikeAI teamed up to start Oprano, it was launched from ynottoppond.com (and maybe some other places)

and Oprano was about the adult business and whatever struck our fancies.

Most of the people there were on their way out of the adult business. The biggest money had been made (and not from illegal schemes or luck), it was way before market saturation when porn on the 'net was still novel, fresh and not oversaturated.

and if you were new you had to EARN your right or way to post on Oprano
It was never a right but a privilege

Yeah some asses were chapped, I personally helped to break in Pushpills and JoeSho
(JoeSho I've met in person and he was a fine gentleman, a real good guy. I don't know what's up with his current persona on the boards, but pixels on a message board do not a person make)
- side note it all came full circle when JoeSho basically said I wasn't wanted/needed here so I packed up, no great loss to anyone

But they stood the test of fire and came out better for it

So some didn't make the grade, porn darwinism

While we didn't speak in specifics we all pretty much knew each other and who made what (we also shared parts of our lives such as children, vacations, extreme weather and so on)

What guys getting in the business now are making most likely wouldn't be enough for us "oldtime bitter fucks" to live on so we do different things, that doesn't make anyone stupid or less of a person, just different people in different situations

New guys in this business didn't even know who Robin Nixon was when he was posting here, (he invented some of the marketing concepts/strategies you use today)

The current ownership has taken a different path and that's their choice

But it's kind of sad to see so much 'net intelligence and heritage just dusted away and pushed to the side

I don't know what will be easier to monetize, a board with a couple Old Fucks or a bunch of newb's that I doubt push a total of 30 memberships per day

But then again, it's just a message board


p.s. For my .02 Anthony and Nick do not need to apologize and it would be a huge token of goodwill if the current owner of Oprano reinstated them

and I could go on but for now you get the idea. I'm not up to a piss just telling it like I see it

Vick I never said you on a personal level needed to leave.

I said the attitude of old days is not going to be something conducive for todays business.

and for the record, regardless of what the old timers think of me,

I push way more than 30 joins a day now .

and believe me or not, I have made well over 6 figures already this year, and am already damn close to 7 we will definatly pass 7 figures this year. ( not bad for a stupid surfmaster, wehamster, or N00b I guess huh)

The difference is it does not make me any smarter than anyone else or any better than anyone else.

I am still me and still get up and work my ass off everyday to try to improve my business, and to make sure anyone involved in business with me is in a win win situation.

I care about customers, and customer service, I am not into quick scams or marginally illeagl moves

I guess I have all the morals I can afford .... because I can afford it I do not need to cheat or scam others for their share.

I am the way I am now on this board, because too many people with no business, or not erven in the business come and talk down to potential "NEW WHALES" because I am not nieve enough to know that no established whale is gonna switch to any new programs, why would they ? I wouldn't ....

But I also know of a handful of new people that are capapble of opushing sales, they just do not talk shit on a board they just keep their head down and work..

This place ( or at least someplace) should be available to really ofer help and good communication for the new people and all the people I know that run successful programs would love ap lace like that to talk to and educate their potential new cronies, work force, content providers, or affiliates. ( why do none of them, ever post here now ? as in now I mean in the last year or even more ? are the handful of old guard smarter and better than them ? I think not .

it is pathetic to see people treat others that way. if I am stupid for that line of thinking then I am glad I am stupid.

but guess what I hope to keep growing at the same pace by making all these mistakes ....

This does not set any record straight and is an assumption on your part. Probably nowhere close to the truth. We have been through this before and you even said you can't support yourself with your net business alone. So if that is what the bitter old time fucks make, then who needs it?

Another assumption that does not set any record straight. I am truly not trying to piss on this thread, but from the shit that has gone down here in the past month, I gotta say that this "old guard" has about as much class as a two dollar hooker on busy saturday night. They did their level best to stab this board in the back.

Get over it. who cares about robin nixon and no I haven't heard of him and maybe he has some influence on my business, but probably not a lot. There is a huge world of porn out there in the rest of the world and Oprano touches only a small corner of what is going on. That is where the future lies and is where we need to go. No more spamming bullshit dialer redirects to make dubious fortunes. Pop ups and cj's made a few people a lot of money and tainted the internet for years. We don't need to be taught these lessons by those who hurt overall business on the net and from which we are just now recovering.
Sorry, Vick, but I gotta disagree with much of what you just posted. It is not personal, but I think it needs to be said.

Thats what I am hoping happens one day here. Too many good people around here to be bitter all the time. Just my 2 cents though!
