Just to name a few off of the top of my head . All came here and for one reason or another are not . some were ran off and some just left cause they did not like what was happening here at the time I suppose .( this was way before my tenure here )

all of these people are ACTIVE posters on a various amount of OTHER boards ...

They for different reasons of their own do not come here .

I would LOVE to see them back here, and imagine if you had just those four, and a crop of say 10 newbies that wanted to learn the business and had a good positive attitude, no matter what they did or did not know about the ways of old in the business.

I would trade everyone on this board for that line up ( think of it as a sports team, I would make that trade all day long , everyday)

If a person is not business saavy enough to see the value in that statment, then they are in the wrong spot now .

even with people like these mentioned that are no longer here prano still survived, so I am not at all worried about anyone that may leave cause they do not like the direction we intend to take Oprano. IT WILL SURVIVE and always has to this point .

the last crew had paid posters ( remember you were one of those before nick turned on you for your morals and needed a whipping boy for page views)

the only peole that have left from that crew that were not already gone was the paid posters . and the chinese fake alexa hits.

If you think I am wrong to go after good business men and potential new blood, I am sorry you feel that way. But I wish you well in all your endeavors and enjoyed the time you spent here while I was around.

I did not put Oprano in the shape it became, butI am one of the people that bought it to bring it back to a condition it should and could be in. Will this require change? YES Will this require some people leaving ? YES
Do I think it is going to be easy or cheap for me to do ? NO
But in case you have forgotten i dont listen to the nay sayers very much, I just do my thing, and it has worked so far . beyond what you can even imagine . I will announce things this year that will amaze you.

Just to make a point. I never got paid by Oprano until I became a mod and I did have duties besides helping to keep the board going by posting.

I posted just as much crap prior to getting a pay check as I did after I started receiving it.

Being paid to mod and being paid to post are two different things.

Gonzo. I have no problems with the direction of the board. I have no problems with you and I appreciate the thanks.

I think someone, you, joe or whoever is seeing something that isn't there. I have not seen anyone complain about the direction of the board.

However, I have heard Joe coming off as somewhat as a highhorse. And after he brought up Shemp in the earlier post I went and did some refreshing of my brain. The thread where Shemp got offended is here http://www.oprano.com/msgboard/showt...0&page=3&pp=50

It happens to be, imho, one of the best business discussions I ever witnessed on this board, and nobody treated shemp like an asshole. (page 2 and 3 are where shemp is involved).

In fact, if you do a search, Shemp was treated like gold when he got here, from the first day right on through.

Maybe I'm reading too much into it all. But I dont think anyone has ever said all the old crew needs to hit the road. What I have read into things is that the old dogs may need to learn a few new tricks or at least be tolerant of new patrons.

We have a lot of people who hang out here who have been here from day one, some of them are out or nearly out of the business. But they still hang out because they are part of the community. I see absolutely nothing wrong with that, many of them are funny and intillegent and contribute a lot to the board.

I think what everyone needs to be careful of though is where business threads are concerned not to make it a hostile environment for newbies or people who are doing business in new ways.

A beat down for anyone new is almost a tradition, but it has also stifled new blood. Very few have passed the initiation and survived to earn a bit of respect and hang around in recent years. Joe is one, Pushpills is another.

The thing is if someone comes thru and starts asking questions about TGPs, the shave on traffic trading scripts, etc, the correct answer isn't to jump on 'em and tell 'em why giving away tons of free porn are the reason the business is no longer as good as it was in 1998.

You have to adapt or die.
