Actually I always buy my phones unlocked since I usually don't care for the phones that is being pushed by whatever carrier I'm using.

Most contract carriers here in the UK send their customers a new phone every year - for free, of course they're locked to that carrier only.

For £20 I can have the phone unlocked and fitted with a new pay-as-you-go sim... then I've got a phone worth £200+ for sale
