Just wanted to issue a partial apology to Paycom. A while back I flamed the hell out of them for not being on top of sending paychecks and / or possibly withholding paychecks.
I just got a huge stack of them that have apparently been getting returned by some numbskull at the Post Office. Considering the addresses are all correct, and computer printouts (rules out handwriting issues), clear plastic windows, etc. It would appear to me that there is some kind of fraudulent pornographer hater scam bullshit going on behind the scenes over there. It would appear I get all mail addressed to (Company Name / Personal Name) unless it's obviously a paycheck. In that case, it's returned to the sender. So I issued a formal complaint to the supervisor on duty this evening. He said if there is indeed fraud occuring, the person will be terminated. Thank god Perhaps now I will finally get my checks.

Hasn't happened often, but certainly not the first story I've heard about the post office doing such things. Doesn't happen that often on the one hand, but on the other, in eight years or so of this, I've heard this story about two dozen times. It does happen.
At least your situation is better than many others I'd heard - you actually got your checks without them having been reissued by the sending company. |

So I've had them UPS my checks on a couple occasions. And now I feel much relief knowing where the source of the problem is, but I also feel bad for the misdirected accusations. I want to kick that postal worker in the nuts. He really stressed me financially. |

It's a crime to open someone else's mail but I'm not sure on the law in this type of area. i would assume it is illegal but not sure. |

Luckily, we've had the same mail carrier ever since we've lived here, my beloved babe-o-licious Julie. We can always tell when it's her day off, though. That's the day we get the little piece of paper that says "we tried to deliver a package but no one was home." That causes Julie to *really* loose it. First off, it's very, very rare I'm not home. If she doesn't get an answer when she knocks, she just leaves everything on the patio table. (I live in a place where it's perfectly safe to do that.) I shop online all the time, and get a lot of packages. On one of her days off, my husband came home to find a very expensive book I'd ordered as a gift on the ground leaning against the pole that holds up our mailbox. I'm grateful that none of the large amount of traffic on the main street included a thief. Whenever I don't get mail I'm expecting, the post office is the usual first suspect. |

One might come to the conclusion that you're either well off, or broke. Or that you're either responsible, or careless. In the case of our businesses, we recieve magazines from companies like AVN, Klixxx, and fliers from places like AVN Expo and Internext. We get various mailings in black unmarked envelopes. All of these say *PORNO* to postal workers. In my case, I own a company with 'Media' in the name, and that's posted on every bit of mail I get. It's also very obvious what mailings contain checks, and which ones don't. People aren't stupid. Post office workers get to witness very interesting things from behind the scenes. They see everything. But some of them are apparently stupid enough to play with our mail and make moral decisions on whether we should recieve our money. Think about what these people are taught in church. I've been to church many times. I know they talk about the evils of pornography and all the things they think are bad for society. It's not much of a stretch to imagine they think they're doing society a favor by basically cutting off our source of funding. What makes this especially wrong is that I actually ended up filing for bankruptcy about a month ago because of all these inconsistencies with my money. I feel they are somewhat responsible for my financial problems. Food for thought.

We had a package a couple of months ago just having to go to what amounts to the next town over.
1. Jen took it to the post office and used the automated stuff. Put it on the scale, punched in the address, paid, got the label, barcode and all and put it ont the package and mailed it. Package comes back to us about a week later as undeliverable as addressed (keep in mind this is with a label that they printed, with a barcode that they produced, on equipment that verified the address first) 2. So, Jen calls the lady it is going through, confirms the address, asks if she wants us to run it over there (literally a 15 minute run) she says no, just mail it. 3. Jen takes it back to the post office, this time takes it to the counter, tells the folks the story. Postal clerk checks it all out, says there is no reason it should'nt have been delivered, assures Jen ti will get there so Jen leaves it there and comes home. 4. About a week later the package comes back as undeliverable as addressed. We called the lady and then drove the fucker over...lol.. I deal with mail on an everyday basis (not at the post office but as a direct mailer) The post office has attempted to automate everything they can about the process and the data that runs through it and while computers don't make mistakes, those that program them and use them do. Barcodes that are screwed can send your mail all to hell and highwater and back, things like that.

I use the "type in all caps, large font, in bold, READ THE LABEL" method to mail packages.
Most of the time, it works. I knew that bar codes were going to be one of the slingshots that helped bring down this civilization this first time I saw one. To err is human. To really fuck up, you need a computer. |
