I like being on the Lunatic Fringe.

I was there for so long, that when things calmed to a period of normalcy I didn't have a clue what I was supposed to do.

I think that is called crisies addiction. Not sure, I've had a bunch of labels put on me over the years. In the end, I'm just a crazy chick tryin' to get by.

I hate labels. Everybody has to have some kind of "addiction" or the shrinks aren't happy.

I, too, am a "crazy chick just tryin' to get by." Anybody who read or heard the morning news is just a crazy tryin' to get by...and that doesn't even cover the personal life stuff.

Imagine how annoying it must be for a Vietnam veteran to wander into a Neighbourhood Watch meeting, only to see some guy on the committee dressed up in jungle combat gear...

I bet most of you have no idea how scary mental illness can be.

So would you say that a high percentage of adult webmasters suffer with mental health issues?

And if so, do you think it's a result of the work, or perhaps that the job attracts people who were ill in the first place?

I don't know if there's a high percentage with "mental health" issues, but I can name more than 20 that do have "mental problems" of some sort.

Personally I'm not sure how much it is to do with the business, I think these problems where there to begin with, but tend to surface due to webmaster boards and the fact that this is to an extent an isolationist business.

Like Trev, I think you'd be surprised.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I see it as an adaptation thing. I don't think the work is what causes issues. I think (and know im my case) that this career, so to speak, was what I figured out that I could do that would allow me to earn money. I *needed* to work at home. I didn't just want to.

So the net was the obvious answer, and porn from that.

I'm like selena...I *had* to work from home.

I once mentioned being an agoraphobic on an adult webmaster message board...and my inbox lit up. I got a *lot* of "me, too!" emails. These people were working from home due to an inability to leave their homes. I'm more of a "recovering agoraphobic" now...which means sometimes I can go out, sometimes...uh...nope.
