in Ellicott City - About 20-25 miles away
If you haven't been there parts of Annapolis are very nice, especially by the downtown docks. Some great bars/pubs, nice docking faculties, some good dining and some ok touristy shopping. The boat shows there are a big deal Some parts of Annapolis are very sketchy as you get away from the Docks and Church Circle Sorry but because I live close by haven't stayed in many hotels in Annapolis, not sure what I'd recommend If you'd like to do like Peaches did about DC (she'll be here late October) and ask me about some locations I'll be glad to let you know anything I know or have heard http://www.loewshotels.com/hotels/annapolis/default.asp might be ok, you have about an 8 block walk to the docks (forget trying to drive, you can catch a carriage back at night if you'd like) but you might want to try to get closer to the city docks http://www.annapolismarriott.com/directions.cfm might be ok too Don't know if anyone is putting together any kind of package for this show Stay away from anything near the Annapolis Mall, everything will be about 25-35 minutes drive to BWI depending on traffic Also my partner in crime Captain Silver is more a boater than I and might be able to recommend something if he reads this C.S. if you read this KK gets 2 thumbs up, if there's anything outstanding you know of please post about it |

Well I have quite an overnight package myself. But I suppose you mean hotels...
Anyway it will be damn near impossibel to get a hotel in the vacinity of Annapolis. Most are booked well in advance, so get your reservation now. Don't even think about bed and breakfasts in Annapolis unless you are willing to part with $300 a night. The only hotels that aren't in Annapolis are like Bowie, or RT 50 near the Bay Bridge. C.S. |

KK do me a favor please - when you're at the Bay look east across the water, flip the bird to that little patch of land you see the Bay Bridge landing on, and yell a hearty "fuck you!" (Okay you can skip the "fuck you" if the folks around you wouldn't appreciate it, lol.)
That's Kent Island, where I grew up. Okay, if you want your usual high style of accomodations you probably aren't going to find a vacancy. BUT... I can recommend an excellent Bed & Breakfast just on the other side of the Bridge. Kent Manor Inn. They might still have vacancies and it's a quick hop over the bridge to Annapolis. Usually during the boat shows there's at least one person staying at Kent Manor with a helicopter and they just hop over to the show in it, a few others take limos. There's also an excellent restaurant downstairs. http://www.kentmanor.com/ This place used to be all mine on the weekends, back when I was 19 or so. The view in the morning sitting on the back porch looking out over the estate with the breeze coming in through the front doors flowing to the back was just... heavenly.

Well, I had to make some minor changes to the arrangements to get the room situation sorted out, but I'm more coming up to meet with a specific boat builder who happens to be in Annapolis, the show is just a bonus...
Now I'll get in on Tuesday and leave on Thursday, instead of Wed-Fri. I did manage to get a room at the Loews, the Marriott was booked solid, and there was nothing anywhere other than some oddball places for Thursday night. With all that long winded nonsense out of the way, maybe you should pop over Tuesday night for dinner, Vick, I havent seen you in forever |
