Sure. Why use the book as an opportunity to open a dialogue with your own damned daughter when you can freak out, file a complaint and either scar the girl for life or...scar the girl for life.

Can you imagine that school's hallways? "Your mom can't suck cock!" High school is hard enough without having to deal with that shit.

If my children had been handed a book that I felt was innappropriate for them (something that wouldn't occur as I feel reading should be as encouraged as open dialogues) I would go in and talk to the damned teacher and that would be enough.

I had the word "ethnocentric" defined to me in high school by an excellent teacher. He used as an example a tribe where the girls are introduced to sex by their uncles. To us it was a knee jerk response to incest...but he forced us past that and to see that to *them* it was a safety measure for young girls and a very heavy responsibility for the uncle. "Our" culture is *not* better than "their" culture just because it's our culture. It's just different.
