There is no black and white here. Pointing out the deterioration of FEMA's response to this disaster compared to what they did in New York on 9/11, or in the Mississippi Valley during the Flood of '93 doesn't touch on the activities of the Mayor of New Orleans or the Governor of Louisiana, let alone pretend to excuse them.

Look - all Presidents appoint cronies who earn their positions based as much on Party loyalty or fundraising activity as on personal accomplishment or merit. That being said, IMHO you have to go back a long ways to find one as spectacularly disasterous as *****'s selections for head of FEMA. FEMA's initial response was feeble, inept, and poorly organized on its face. What makes this even more frightening is that this takes place four years after 9/11 - and after four years of politicing on how much safer *****/Cheney/the Republican Majority have made us.

The Mayor has plenty of accounting to do.

The Governor has plenty of accounting to do.

I am neither a citizen of N.O. or of LA. They have no accounting to do to me.
