Attention all bookish skettles, playettes, skanks and hollaback girls: The fun bus, courtesy of Joe Francis of Mantra Films, will soon be appearing at your campuses as part of its two-month tour that began early this month to promote the first edition of Girls Gone Wild Canada.

And if you have a nice rack, radically interpret SLUT as an acronym for "Sexually Liberated Urban Teenager," own a diamante thong and desperately want a free T-shirt or cap, you may want to join the party.

The largely anonymous Francis, whose Girls Gone Wild film oeuvre includes Sexy Sorority Sweethearts, Spring Break, Anything Goes! and Doggy Style (hosted by the rapper Snoop Dogg), has been filming drunk young libertarians for seven years. What began as a mail-order video operation has since burgeoned into a legitimate film empire, with a himbo-heavy Guys Gone Wild DVD in play.

Canadians, who are not known for their Mardi Gras spirit, are already protesting against a number of scheduled campus appearances: A proposed stop in Thunder Bay's Warp 9 bar has been cancelled, and Dalhousie University's media-relations manager Charles Crosby has issued the following dire statement: "We're not keen any time a predator comes to campus, and quite frankly, that may be what we're looking at."

The Canadian film is, as it turns out, approximately as hard-core as the spliced-together tapes an odd neighbour of mine used to make of flashes of panties in major motion pictures. Its scenes take place on two different sets: a nightclub, where heavily guarded girls leap onstage and flash or kiss each other; and the tawdry Francis bus, where more dedicated nubiles are coaxed into terse make-out sessions, and into revealing a little more skin.

From a porn perspective, this is pretty weak fare -- a prettier, younger re-enactment of the biker rallies of the 1960s and 1970s, where old ladies and motorcycle mamas were also encouraged, with perhaps more frightening relish to "Show us your . . . !"

From a cultural perspective, and in this skin-friendly age, the film is hardly objectionable: The girls seem avid and have clearly prepared for their instants of fame. As the bus rolls across the country, from Halifax to Vancouver, one can surely hear the sound of bikini-waxing, tattoo needles and the cash register at Victoria's Secret from miles away.

Random trampy gestures are always thrilling, for their sheer misconduct. Directed versions of them have the same desired effect, but, in the case of Girls Being Told To Go Wild, are compromised by the often disheartening vision of genuine shrinking violets.

We did a shoot last night and some of the crew was out in Athens last week supposedly when they came thru out area. They said it they were going nuts.

They were here in ATL at the Georgia Tech campus area last Wednesday at a bar called the Library. I heard a couple of my neighbors that hang out at that bar talking about it.

It appears they had quite the turn out.

they are careful these days with those underage lawsuits. they had some girls gone wild event at a club down the street from me a year ago, and it sucked. I went to show my friend the place not knowing the evenings theme and they said "it's only 10 bucks tonight....it's girls gone wild night" which pretty much meant it's 99 percent virgin dudes tonight, didn't you get the flyer? We saw some decent looking girls parading around the upper catwalks, 40 percent clothed, dancing as they were filmed. No nudity at all while we were there, and if there was, it would have been by the two hired girls they had. It wasn't girls gone wild, it was girls who were for certain 21 or over, being paid to tease some real pathetic losers and show a little skin. We left hastily. I was very embarrassed to have been in there that night.
