As Peaches said 90% of there affiliates are SE people.

So the chances are they are in effect paying a middle man (the affiliate)

Doesn't it make sense just to go to google , treat google as a whale and prepay google 50k for traffic effectively?

I think the mis-conception that you have is that SE whales use paid rankings...
