My Grandfather on my Dad's side was in the Navy and had a tattoo of a ship with "US Navy" under it. He was the only person we EVER knew as kids who had a tattoo and we thought it was so cool, lol! Poor guy - I can just imagine how it must feel to have your grandkids come running up to you, "Show us your tattoo again, Pappy!". :P
I don't think I knew anyone else with a tattoo until I was in my late 20's or maybe even 30's. I've led such a sheltered life.
