As you may know, some Deadheads are prone to engage in a physical activity referred to as dancing (often mistaken for a fit or siezure by others, however).
During a break in the concert the last time I saw them - the year before Garcia died - I saw a woman rubbing herself down with enough of a Ben Gay-like substance that it covered up the patchouli incense, burning green leafy vegtable-like substances, and body order from the folks that follow the band from town to town.
The truly disturbing thing is that the woman was close to my age. Even knowing that the first time I saw them Nixon was still locked in a close battle with Rockefeller for the Republican Presidential nomination (fall of 67), I found that very, very disturbing.
And I'm glad your mom kept our secret.
