Congratulations, kid (and Mom)!!!! Now, as a Navy vet I would have suggested you join the military - either the Navy or their wholly-owned subsidiary, the Marines. But scouting is nice too ...

I think the training is pretty equal throuhout the services these days ... but re the facilities, dave is right. There's a reason for that, though. Army/Navy/USMC goes to build a base, they build [whatever they need for the military functions of the base], run out of money, and go back to Congress for barracks, clubs, blahblahblah.

The Air Force goes to build a base, they build barracks, clubs, blahblahblah, and go back to Congress for runways, aircraft, etc.
