The "troubles" that Master P is currently going through is the conviction of his brother, who beat and fatally shot a 16yr old fan at a club where they had both just participated in a freestyle (like an impromptu rap-off).
The boy adored Master P's brother (who goes by the name of C-Murder) and his walls at home were covered with posters of his own killer.
C-Murder (up until his incarceration 18 months ago) worked closely with Master P, appearing on many of his records, marketing his clothing line and record label, etc. It's not as if Master P went off to do his thing and wasn't connected to his brother - they were thick as thieves and interacted daily.

Master P is currently worth about $400 million. He was just signed to the Las Vegas Rattlers after many failed attempts at getting on a professional basketball team and staying there (he keeps getting cut because he has no basketball skills and a bum knee). He's got a show with his son (Lil' Money) on Nickelodeon, he stars in the movie Scary Movie 3, and he and his son have at least 2 if not 3 movies coming out in the next couple of years (they just wrapped up shooting of the first).

He *does* remember his roots; he gives $100k every Thanksgiving to a N'orleans shelter that helps the homeless and the poor. He makes appearances all over the country at schools encouraging black children to rise up and be something.

Yet he was also recently arrested for having a legal gun and illegal bullets when trying to go through an airport.

His music is strictly the most vile, vicious gansta rap you've ever heard. It's all formula crap often using the same track over and over again in song after song and quite often outright steals music tracks from other artists without permission. He's got a history of stealing things for his music without permission; he had to pay a boatload of money to an elderly woman for using her voice on one of his records. One of Master P's buddies had taped a phone call with her without her knowledge and then they put it on the record without her knowledge or permission.

So yeah, while he has risen up to make himself a multi-millionaire and a well-known rapper (who plainly sucks), he has built all of that on the back of theft and lies. And while he would love to pass himself off as being "above" what he raps about, he surrounds himself with the lifestyle and the people, as evidenced by his arrest with illegal bullets and his brother's 2nd degree murder conviction for killing a young boy.

There are far, FAR better people to model yourself after.
