A large explosion Wednesday rocked a U.S. diplomatic convoy in the Gaza Strip (search), killing at least two American and wounding four others, Fox News has learned.

Damn, someone wants to create a fire!

Arafat is a weak leader, but still a symbol - however more and more palestinian groups are attemping to get in position to take over when he dies (which is probably soon) - maybe this attack was made to put the current palestinian goverment in a bad light, and make them loose more support from the US?

Arafat says No No No! it aint him, or Hesbulah(sp) They had nothing to do with it.
Time to look for new suspects, new threats.

U.S. diplomatic sources said the people in the targeted car were security guards for the U.S. diplomats traveling in the other vehicles. Palestinian officials said the diplomats were U.S. monitors.

U.S. convoys travel in Gaza almost daily, and are easily identifiable and usually take the same route on the main north-south road in the strip.

Several hours after the bombing, U.S. investigators arrived at the scene and photographed the mangled van. About a dozen Palestinian youths threw stones at the investigators as about 200 Palestinians looked on.

As the angry crowd chanted "Allahu Akbar" — "God is great" — the Americans rushed back into their cars, surrounded by nervous Palestinian security officers with rifles raised. Palestinian police beat some people in the crowd while pushing the spectators back, and the cars sped away under a hail of stones.

Arafat, hes meaningless and its known hes pro terroism like many others, but hes like a celebrity to them or else hed have been killed by now.

the timing of the convoy being hit follows closely the US being the only country to vote against the israeli wall being built in the west bank.

Why do they hate americans?
Americans didn't take their land. So why?
Americans didn't occupy their houses. So why?
Americans don't treat them like rubbish. So why?
Americans want peace. So why?
Americans want them to have a country. So why?
They were peace activists, no? So why?
They only target their enemies, no? So why?

Its probably because of Bush, no?
Or because of globalization, no?
Or because of the ever strong support of Israel, no? (even though the dead are peace activists)
Maybe its because the US is a bully, no?
Or it messes with the middle east which is not its business, no?

Hey - after all they only use sticks and stones, no?
What else can they use against this mighty convoy?
They have no other way of fighting for the freedom. no?
They have to fight to get what's their's. no?

Is it really terror? What's the definition of terror? I think doesn't qualify because they have no country. no? or because it's not "international". no?


Clarification: The above is a cynical post in memorial for past oprano discussion about violencve in the middle east.
The above post does not necessarily represent the writer's view.
As a matter of fact the writer (me) thinks this is sad and that this act was yet another cowerdice terror attack which may not make sense to most Oprano's readers but does make some strange sense in the minds of many palestinians - certainly most of those to do with power in the palestinian territories and authorities - and that this act makes as much (none at all) sense and has zero legitimacy as all the other terror attacks perpetrated before that one even in not against stripes and starts flagged cars or people.
