Just thinking about it and realized that I knew what Blue Balls were and I knew what blacklisted was, but I had never given much thought to blackballed, although I have heard the expression many times....

did you ever wonder how they made pool balls completely round? before plastic, they were made of ivory and its said that plastic was invented as a substitute for ivory pool balls. how did they make a round ball from ivory. it would have to be pretty precise to be usable in a game. i never understood that.
