without dwelling, I wanted to respond to CJs post because there was a lot of good points raised in it:
"do you have many friends at college loun or are you the kid that always sits alone in the lunch room and that the other students just don't 'get'?" I actually have a lot of friends after being ni teh same dorm for a couple years that i was on campus and they all respect me as a person not because of what I do on the internet, unfortuantely until an internext rolls around this wone be the case with anyone here. As far as them "not getting me" of course they dont, im sure most of us here have a ton of people in our day to day lives that just dont get us. They dont ge the ideas we randomly have and have to write on a napkin, the back of a business card, or when we wake up in the middle of teh night jump out of bead and hop online to check something that we were thinking about. We are inherently different. As im sure you all do too, I have many notebooks and text files full of thoguhts and ideas and how to do things differently, this is what im doing when im sitting alone somwhere, not sitting alone beause I have to but more because i want to, I have shit to do lol "And most of us have already been on the huge ego/success trip you are on, several times in this industry in the last several years." Im definitely not on an ego trip, if I was I wouldnt have been saying thigns from the start that im not the best at, and that I just know some about it and am doing fairly well at it. There is a difference in being confident in your skills and being on an ego trip, but point taken and its understood. "The only thing that matters is do you have the ethic and attitude to put your head down and your ass up and WORK when its needed to meet the responsibilities you have acquired along the way, or will you spend the rest of your life hearing 'ding, fries are done'? " I do however it takes more than 3 days for that to come across dont you think? As far as ding the fries are done, I actually wanted to pick up a day job either as a waiter or even working fast food just so I could be more on teh front lines with the public to network with local industry in my home area. There is nothing wrong with that. "respect is earned, not given" We agree on this point 100%, I would just add that its better to go into "relatipnships" with more of an open mind in stead of passing unfound judgement. "get involved in the discussions" Attempting to but not easy when it seems the only discussions i should be involved in are how nice the weather is, and how the war is getting to be over because I havent proven myself so none of my thoughts or opinions matter on the other topics. "stop carrying on like you have found out a secret that the rest of us don't know and maybe someone would listen long enough to hear the valuable info you have." Im sure some of what I know isnt known by everyone here, we all have different specialties. You know more about jettis, epock, ccbill, globill, than I ever want to. Why? because you deal with them on a daily basis, I have no desire to run a paysite. This principle can be carried over to almost any debatable topic in one for or another. "you have web sites, you have domains, you have traffic big deal. ask around, a couple of us have dabbled in the internet too" Yes but did you get there all by yourselves? or did you have a group of people you could bounce ideas off of and talk shop with that helped you get there. The latter is all I was looking for. -Lou |
