Q: You've spoke about having seen the children's prisons in Iraq. Can you describe what you saw there?

A: The prison in question is at the General Security Services headquarters, which was inspected by my team in Jan. 1998. It appeared to be a prison for children — toddlers up to pre-adolescents — whose only crime was to be the offspring of those who have spoken out politically against the regime of Saddam Hussein. It was a horrific scene. Actually I'm not going to describe what I saw there because what I saw was so horrible that it can be used by those who would want to promote war with Iraq, and right now I'm waging peace.

My God. The depths of moral cowardice and intellectual bankruptcy revealed in this statement are simply stunning. "The truth would compromise my position, so I refuse to speak it." And this from one of the peace movement's exalted leaders.

The mother-fucker is "waging" peace with a regime which is doing to kids something (in a "prison") that even that mother-fucker can't describe. Fuck him.
This is the same bankrupt blind approach of Europe and others trying to force Israel to "talk" peace with Arafat - not realizing some people are not peace partners.
Hope the new "Abu mazen" guy kicks Arafat out of power - and turn to be a good guy.

i never saw an interview where that guy did not get pounded into a pulp verbally. he seemed to be very full of energy and anger without any brains to match.

a seeming casualty of the Utopian "peace at any cost" ideology. (oh... and he was also paid 400K by people sympathetic to Bagdad to make a movie IN IRAQ about the failures of the UN - but of course that did not affect his objectivity)
