Past week stocks have gone up, oil has gone down. If we can wrap up this war - or at least the major combat operations soon, I think this may give the US Economy a nice bounce to build off of.
Of course winning the war in the most effective, complete way is the primary goal, but if it can help the economy - its a bonus!! |

Mike, the securing of oil supplies, and removing the uncertainty out of the oil market drivers the price of oil down quickly. The price of oil is a VERY important component in profits for all industries that produce goods that must be shipped.
More importantly, it has been made clear that the intention for Iraq is to use it's oils resources to generate cash flow and rapidly rebuild the country. This means that Iraq will certainly increase it's total oil output as quickly as possible, which would increase supply against no demand increases - thus the price goes down. I suspect there will be some serious busting of OPEC limits for a while. Look for oil to settle in the 20-22 a barrel range once this is all over... Alex

I have some stock in an oil exploration company..they haven't moved in the last few weeks...they have made massive profits in the last 1/2 with the price being high so im hoping for them to spring back after this conflict.

US dollar exchange rate is also getting better... I think it will rise 5% more to the Euro...
No doubt that the war ending with a quick and "clean" victory will send stock markets up in most countries (well except France ;-))
