Since the conversation is mixing Revelations and Nostradamus now ...
[snip]
Passages in Revelations that refer to a beast seem to be a deliberate imitation of similar passages in Daniel. Daniel is written during the Babylonian exile and his beasts were symbolism for the powerful empires and kings of his time. When one mentions "crowns", one is referring to kings.

You guys just HAD to bring up the revelations now didn't you? hehehe
When you refer to passages in 'Daniel' are you referring to the Torah?
Because I have also read about the similiarities between the revelations and the 'beast' coming out of the sea, and similar passages in the Torah where several beasts rise from the sea.....
Basically, the revelations merge the beasts/animals into one, where as the passages in the Torah refer to the same beasts/animals as separate entities emerging from the sea.
IMHO there is alot in the bible that was 'borrowed' from other sources...from parts of the revelations.....to the reference to a 'lake/pit of fire' which can be seen in the Ancient Egyptians 'Book of the Dead'.....
Interesting stuff....
