Can't answer your question, because I don't know the tactical situation surrounding your hypothetical terrorist camp.

If you think that the 15 special ops guys could do anything that the 100 regular troops could do, you're either silly or naïve. When you get right down to it, those 15 sexy special ops guys have a couple of hundred regular ordinary folks risking their asses in one way or another just to put and keep them in the field - so it might be more efficient to have the regular troops do it.

Even assuming that I would want the sexy, cool special ops folks to rescue me - I'm not sure I'd want them with me on routine patrols through occupied territory. Not something they are tempermentally suited for.

The "beat them into line" stuff makes great movies (Officer and a Gentlemen comes to mind first, but there are dozens of others) - but that's all it is.

My last duty station was the Naval Amphib Base in Coronado - the West Coast SEAL training center. A drinking buddy of mine was on his third tour as an instructor, and - according to him - had never laid a hand on a trainee. Easier, more efficient and SMARTER to wash them out and send them back to the fleet, and concentrate his efforts on people who could handle the training program.
