A great cover album is Robbie Williams' Swing While You're Winning. Covers of songs from Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr, etc. I always liked his voice, but i was just amazed by his new found range once i heard this album. Ben Harper's live cover of The Drugs Don't Work by The Verve was pretty good too. Fields of Athenry (an old Irish rebel song) and Guns of Brixton (The Clash) by the Dropkick Murphys. Their remdition of Scotland The Brave; Cadence To Arms is also very good. They do heaps of covers in live shows from what i've heard of their live recordings and bootlegs. TNT by AC/DC thrown into the middle of skinhead. White Riot by the Clash. Flogging Molly's cover of Whiskey In The Jar. Manson's cover of Tainted Love and also The Living End's cover. Way too many quality cover songs out there. |
