I could expand beyoind my initial five as well

would add
12 Monkeys
Memento
A Boy And His Dog
A Christmas Story
Dogma
Evil Dead (unlike most horror movie fans, I prefer the first ED to the sequel)
Suspiria (all bow to the directing god that is Dario Argento)
Friday The 13th
A Nightmare On Elm Street
To The Devil A Daughter (Christopher Lee sleepwalks through his role, but a damn good movie overall)
The Mummy (my favorite of the Universal classics)
Freddy Got Fingered
American Splendor
RSVP
My Bloody Valentine
The Eye (if you liked The Ring, check out this badboy)
Ringu
Audition
Darkwater
Ju-On (being remade with Sarah Michelle Gellar as "The Grudge")
Stir Of Echos (much much better than "The Sixth Sense" which it's unfairly compared to)
Frenzy (my favorie Hitchcock film)
The African Queen
Plan 9 From Outer Space
Dead Alive aka Braindead
BasketCase
Frankenhooker
Tormeo And Juliet
Eye Of The Needle
Raiders of The Lost Ark
