... The stock market bubble bursting would take a long time to unravel even if this was the only thing happening. The stock market tends to go in cycles.

.... then you have to throw in terrorism which will cause people to travel less, spend less, etc. which will hurt the economy. Also, people will be less willing to invest in the stock market because any major terrorist event will send the market plunging, which will hurt the economy.
