Lets talk Sig Whoring

It's hard to regulate and enforce common sense. And there's very little of it among some of the posters on other boards.

The SIG itself is not the issue. It is no different than wearing a shirt or a hat for your employer or other benefactor at a trade show. It's branding and if you get lucky you might score a sale or new client who inquires about it.

Like most things in this industry though, there are people who will push a good thing beyond the limit of what is acceptable. When you get people promising thousands of posts with the SIG in a 30 day period for a few hundred bucks, it's out of control.

I've never bothered to turn a sig on as I'm pretty much self contained and haven't bothered to whore anything. But I may change that soon as an exercise in curiousity.
