cross linking threads might make a bit of difference to the page views but i think most webmasters around here are smart enough to know how to read alexa & value it over 'raw page views'

None of what you said makes a difference alex ... the only 'loser' in the 'game' was you, for not figuring out how to make financial gain from the time you spent here. And for not figuring out that you were playing a different 'game' to your opponent!
