Jonathan Turley, a prominent law professor at George Washington University, countered that embracing torture would be "suicide for a nation once viewed as the very embodiment of human rights".
------------------- does he mean before or after we were voted off the UN Human Rights Commission? or allowed women to vote? or abolished slavery? or allowed black people to go to an all white school? people are making assumptions as to what "torture" is. should sleep deprivation be used against Khalid Sheikh Mohammed to gain information to save 10's of thousands of lives?
