One of my favorite - and oft told, so apologies to anyone who's heard this - convention stories is the time I was standing facing someone, chatting. Arms came around me from behind. The person to whom I was speaking (I apologize for not remembering who it was) had a total facial expression change. It was a mixture of shock, horror and "oh, my fucking everything, she's gonna kill this guy!" The facial expression changed again - more shock - when I leaned back and said "hi, Lance!" I explained to the shocked person that the list of people who had permission to put their hands on me was extremely short. Heading the list was "this long haired musician who talked to me about his kids." No business, just personal. A little reprieve from "the industry" was always welcome.

You even explained to me once that yes, it had five strings, and yes, it was a bass guitar. I had no idea there was a five stringed bass. Educational, that convention.
