Not so sure about the "what is the world coming too" stuff, though ... sick bastards have always been around. With 24 hour news services and stiff competition, I think we HEAR about more stuff than we used to - especially gloom and doom stuff that makes those so inclined wring their hands and bemoan the state of the world.
