Snook did not stop me, the season closed for that beast, But I did acquire the balls to sail out of the intercoastalway, endure the breakwaters and leave the inlet into the open Atlantic. Threw the anchor, braved 20 knot winds and 2-4 foot swells Sunday and spanked the fish like no other day.
This is a redfish, it is state protected, limit is one a day, size has to be 18-27 inches, this bull red was 30.5 inches and it was released. We went on to catch our limit, had a pair of 26" reds, and headed back into the intercoastal as a storm approached. I went off course to my secret cove and boated another 24" redfish. What to do, throw it back and not risk having the game commission tow my boat and confiscate it, or take my chances with a storm coming and the wild life having no interest in shake downs? Welp, we took the fish and hid it under the boat seat which is a nice framed box, put our gear and crap on the seat, and would show our contents in the coolers.... No game wardens and 3 reds on the table to clean. Had lot of neighbors over for a fish fry, reds taste like chicken not like fish :-) Going back to the same spot this Sunday! I love fishing!!!
