What's all this about the Butcher?

Who is he? What has he done that's pissed everyone off? I dropped out of the biz in 2000 until recently - so - what's up?

Quick Synopsis..

Butcher shows up last fall, wants to open an adult board. He says he is a newbie to the biz. Opens a board with apparently R_N as a partner. Spams the hell out of icq and other boards to get people over to his board posting, had a forum for ask fantasyman that people could post messages for R_N etc on.

His model was pay per post. But he seems to have had a lot of trouble getting people their money. He was using paypal and claiming to be getting shut down because it was adult. What he was actually doing (imho) was paying by paypal check (where you have to wait) then killing the payment and shuting down the account. Some people got paid, many have not (very Steve Goldmanesque)

His numbers were going through the roof, so people started paying attention to him.

Several people started revealing "discrepancies" in his board. The numbers of viewers online were way overinflated (leaving cookies set for 24 hours) Membership roster was way overinflated (someone posted his member list with a ton of bullshit names in it things like sg553466653, no profile info etc)

Each time someone questioned him about something they would get shut down by him, banned, ips blocked whatever. But, he would also remove the offending info, first the member buttn disappeared off the board, so you couldn't look at the member list, things like that.

During that show, I posted a little study I had done. I had a friend create a username and carry a banner from my server (I actually did several) and tracked the actual hits to the image and compared them to the theadviews being displayed. He was way inflating the threadviews. After I went in and posted on his board (and got banned) he turned off whatever he was doing on the threadviews and they went to what appeared normal.

We left it alone for a couple of months.

A couple of weeks ago, I went back to his board, created a new member and tracked again. He had the threadviews way over inflated again.

When I published that, he kind of went berserk, contacting Nick and threatening him and all sorts of shit. And he now no longer shows the thread views.

Yesterday (a little bird tells me this) someone went in to his board and created a user name with a name that they figured was butchers real name. In response, Butcher made it so only registered users can see his board.

So, he is hiding something apparently and that usually means a scam is going on. It looked like he was trying to scam sponsors, but since he longer has any paying (I assume), we are not sure what he is up to, but conjecture has it that he is Steve Goldman under disguise.
