Teacher allegedly marries teen during pagan ritual

(South Haven, December 3, 2004, 6:11 p.m.) A West Michigan teacher remains in jail after accusations she had a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old female student. There are new details about the case as police say the two participated in a marriage ceremony that involved witchcraft.

Investigators say 36-year-old Elizabeth Miklosovic and the student knew each other for years. They met when the girl was a student in Miklosovic's Language Arts class at Baseline Middle School in South Haven.

Investigators charged Miklosovic after a school administrator informed them about alleged sexual encounters between her and the former student.

Six months ago, police say the relationship grew from emotional to physical with the pair having sexual contact in multiple places around West Michigan including Van Buren and Kent counties.

Investigators say the girl trusted Miklosovic and believed what they had was a caring relationship.

Among the most disturbing details investigators discovered was a marriage between Miklosovic and the girl in what has been described as a pagan ritual. Police say the two had a mutual interest in witchcraft.
