unfortunately though, not all webmasters like using the phone!

sometimes when i suggest to someone that i call them they start freaking out as if i said i was going to drop over & catch them in the nude or something!!

maybe its just me

I hate using the phone. It takes me 20 minutes to do on the phone what I can in 2 via email and ICQ. Then again, I'm long winded either way.

that's cause when you type, you can multi task, but when on the phone everything has to stop for conversation

some days though, i get so sick of typing I pick up the phone every 2 minutes LOL

has anyone every had an affiliate manager from a sponsor you promote just call up to see how things are going? did it piss you off? would it if someone did it to you?

I also don't remember things as well if I'm told them verbally than if it's written down. Ask Gonzo. It took me until college to realize that I could actually learn was the instructor was saying if I just wrote it all down

Oh, and no a program has never called but it wouldn't bother me if they did - I never answer my phone anyway. They'd leave a message, I'd email or ICQ them back.

when I first came into Netpond/Condom I always was phoning people a huge phone bill back then.

Why? Mainly cause my typing is so poor and sooo slow.

I personally think its great for people to call out of the blue.No probs with it.Of course few have my number nowadays ;-))

I used to get program owners phone me...ie The General and , would you believe R-n phone up to educate me on diferent aspects of the web.

Ok , so R-n shouted at me once for over an hour....lol

Serge used to phone to sing happy birthday...interesting Singing voice..lots of timbre ;-)))

Scott used to phone to fuck with me. So I did to him.The classic "Invesxtigative
Journo" from London which he went for , but handled brilliantly!!!

Radio hosts don't call now that I'm sober though.

Even thoudh sober I still do not know what it is headless ACTUALLY does ,and I still believe that most of the other guests are HOMOS!!! ;-)))

I'm another one who just cant deal with someone who insists upon using the phone for business.

Email is faster and less obtrusive and let's me deal with things at my pace and prioritization. I treat my inbox largely like a todo list. If you just ask me to do something voice and dont back it up with an email, odds are I never remember it.

HP, i'm the same usually - i prefer email as it lets me do things in my order. but these days with so much spam to published email addresses, i'm becoming less reliable with stuff sent to my email ;-(

I'm almost doing a full loop back to the phone ... its instant, calls don't get lost and it automatically prioritizes any action needed to the front because you don't have a choice LOL

I think typing speed is the biggest deciding factor on method of communication ... everyone i know who uses the phone first and foremost can't type very quick

yeah, spam truly is impacting the viability of email.

Seriously though, I'm normally happy to deal with whatever convenience (or contrivance) that makes the other person comfortable. Provided effective communication can be done that way.

Although a) I do find it very annoying those few folks who can for whatever reason ONLY do busineess in ICQ and b) there are many times when the issue is complicated, and one five minute phone call will take the place of dozens of back-and-forth emails over many days -- that's the only time I really do insist on biz by phone.
