they say Philly is the toughest crowd in the world, they threw iceballs at Santa Claus, they'd boo a cure for cancer and do the same at the airport when a plane successfully lands.
Marc of ARS posted on GFY his Christmas charity program where ARS matches what the affiliates donate and they get reward points etc |

Mutt,
The people on that board are amazing. I am still trying to figure out the dynamics of that board. I can only assume there are many youngsters there, with little to no experience in either this business, or life in general. I rarely see anyone say something positive, and if they do it's always with a link and refcode. The most amazing thing is the group-worshipping of certain people who (claim they) make millions, but nobody is allowed to know how they do it. And the incredible amount anyone using a female name gets. Strange crowd. Greetings, Art |

I agree....I've read the post and it's just sad.....I am a regular poster on
GFY and allthough sometimes it still can be an entertaining place I think the board gets too crowded with Ego hunters and ignorant assholes... I post a lot less nowadays and if this trend continues I'll probably resign from posting on GFY.......not that anyone would care.....but then again... I don't care either... DynaMite |

That said.....I'm glad I ended up here....believe it or not but until I joined
I thought this place was even worse...(without really checking it out). Some of Serge's post made me come over and check it out......and the threaded board also helped I guess.....I hate flat boards. I even clicked the Oprano banner on GFY to get here.......I guess at least the advertising on GFY works lol DynaMite |

hehehe........i posted a question for a friend who had his CCBILL and Epoch pass files hacked and distributed to all the pass sites on GFY about an hour or so ago. Look at the replies.
GFY's strenghths are its biggest weaknesses. i get a fair amount of traffic from my sig - 90% of it looks remarkably alike Name:asdfasdf URL: http://www.asdf.com Email:asdfkakaakk@ieianfg.com But i also get some good leads/clients from GFY, there are good people posting in and amongst the young and insane crowd. Many people on Oprano also post on GFY. I never paid much attention to it until I went there to try to promote the Pickem contest, so i read it and was kinda fascinated by it all. It's alot like the alt. heirarchy groups on Usenet. |

Funny you should mention that. My ancient lesbian paysite also had all of it's user/pass combo's cracked last week. Apparently they hacked the epoch script, which I thought is not surprising because it's been sitting there since 1998. I assume is has been updated and improved many times over the years, and I was a sitting duck with such an old version. Only a few members left in that site, so it was no problem for me. If you have such a problem with an active site, you're in deep shit ;-( And I agree 100% about strength being weakness on GFY. More eyeballs means more chance of finding someone who knows what you want to know, or needs what you have to sell. However, somehow the signal to noise ratio also deteriorates when volume goes up, and it gets increasingly hard to separate the useful info from the crap. Many of the thread titles are useless and don't cover the thread content at all, so I guess I miss quite some useful info there by skipping those. GFY is all about smart ass kids making 5k a month braggin about their Hondas, smoking pot, and what photos they are jerking off to.
Not much business is discussed, and you have some people who just look to insult and slam others for no reason. I find it funny when an Old Timer, someone who has been in the business or years, has a good rep, made lots of money, they always jump on these people. IT is a small universe where the number of posts one makes on GFY creates your social status. However at time it can be amusing... it is a lot like the Jerry Springer show. |

I have to agree with Dyna, it is fun at times, but I have been posting less too.
Thing is we still get some work from the people that request designers on the board. I've been lurking here and at porncity lately to see if it is fun. Couple years back I heard AWI was for kids, so I never really posted there, but now it seems some made the change to GFY. About the kids ... there are several. few months back there was a whole group of highschool kids invading gfy, thank God they are gone now, lol. I know of some other kids there too, one is acting like a 40 year old billionaire, yet he told one of my partners he had to cut of the bizz relationship or his parents would stop paying his scholarship, too funny. That particular person is also taking a loan on a 20k car, because he loves the car .. fool. Oh well, it can be fun at times, but it is getting worse

I have become tired of GFY rather quickly not a board for information, help, or anything of that sort, mostly spam and public flamings, the only reason I see its appeal, is its speed most adult boards the posts move like molases, but at Gfy in the time you post , there are 10 or 20 other post, but hey , its quality not quantity I guess..

hey thanks Petr, i wonder if all that has been addressed. I know there are
password hackers who still are adding usernames/passwords, not being much of a techie type, i don't know how they do it, which scripts they are tampering with and how. if u go to any of the security/warez type sites they have tutorials how to hack CCBill and IBill paysites. |

Mutt, the problem is that basically all the billing companies use (or used) almost identical scripts with similar holes in them.
AFAIK, the current Epoch, CCBill, Jettis and PSW scripts are pretty much secure now but if your friend still use an old version of the scripts, he can be in trouble. I can give you more details on this but as I said in the GFY thread, I don't usually discuss security problems in public.... Especially not with LF reading this board... <_< |

Mutt, ya bastard, you have no clue about Philly fans!!!
Philly fans got the reputation of being tough ... but NOT in that way. We will boo our own team if they are top-ranked and acting like fuckups during a game. Steve Carlton learned this. We support our teams even in the years when they suck. But when Steve for instance had a few bad games, Philly fans would boo him. Why? Cause we KNEW he could do better. In THAT way, Philly fans are tough. Tough and loyal. Now if you want to talk just plain MEAN ... let's look at the New Yorker fans who toss bottles on the heads of managers. Or those great Ohio college boys who put their towns on fire. Sorry, Mutt. But you're giving Philly fans a bad and unearned rap here!! |

Opti, i don't know what Dravyk is talking about
People in Australia are known for being rowdy and getting drunk right? right.well Philadelphia is so bad that at the big football stadium where the Eagles play they had so many maniacs beating each other up , that underneath the stadium, they built a courtroom which is manned with a judge, they take them right out of the stands, arrest them and take them right in front of the judge underneath the stands, convict them and off they go to jail or pay their fine, one stop justice for drunken idiots. Also about 10 years ago, at an Eagles game around Christmas time, i guess to get in the spirit of the season and be nice to the kids they brought out Santa in a sleigh at halftime to go around the field and wave to the crowd, throw out candy canes, well the good fans of Philadelphia immediately started making snowballs, packing them nice and tight and hard , and throwing them at Santa, beaning the poor bastard all over his body and head! Philly is legendary for this stuff. Just last year in an ice hockey game, i'm sure this video was even played in Europe and Australia, a big fat enraged drunk Philly fan, ran down the stairs of the stadium to get at a player of the visiting team who had been sent to the penalty box , he leaned over the protective glass and started flailing away, he was so fat that the glass collapsed and he fell into the penalty box whereupon the player starting beating the crap out of him. Philly is the toughest crowd in sports, North America anyway. Soccer hooligans in Europe are worse i guess.

there was a show called 'Philly'?
i think they were going to make a TV version of the movie 'Philadephia' but they realized half way through the pilot that the main character was going to die.

there was that "Philly Heat" thing about firemen - they did the pilot and showed like 3 episodes before it got canned back in like 97 or 98... I can't think of any others...

my maniac TV watching days ended when I found the Net, i only watch CNN and sports, missed out on 'Philly Heat'. I do remember 'I Love Sydney', not a great show. The show I was thinking of was 'Thirty Something', it was set in Philadelphia. |

Opti,
the show i was thinking about set in Philadelphia was '30 something', u didn't get that one down under? It was a drama about yuppies in what else their mid late thirties. The writing and acting was very good but it was very annoying, i only watched a few shows, it was definitely a chick program. |
